The Application

I decided to spend one year in the USA. What now? In late fall (or was it early winter?) 2000 I requested information from several exchange organizations - and I got avertisments (EF never stopped sending me those...). So I bought a book that compared the different organizations and so in November I requested application forms from YFU because for me they seemed to be the best organization.

For the aplication I needed to fill out different forms and to write a self-development essay. This was really not as hard as it sounds like and for me it was pretty much fun. I sent all my application stuff to YFU and waited, and waited, and waited... After some time, the waiting was too long for me, epecially because I didn't know whether to apply at another organization, and so I called YFU and they told me, I passed the written application and I'd get a letter for the interview soon.

I got the letter, then I went to the interview which was in February. In a group of five (or so) students we had to discuss some exchange student issues... Two students almost didn't say anything and another one wasn't that smart and sometimes made stupid comments that didn't worth to argue about because they were obviously senseless. From one girl a new later that she passed, but that's it.

Around one week later I got a letter from YFU and they told me, I passed the interview and I had to verify that I really wanted to go with them to America.
